So, it's been a smidge over a year since The World's Most Perfect Cat moved on to kitty heaven. It's probably been a good year for dear old hubs since his cat allergies have had a chance to subside. Bless his heart. He is an accomodating one, and the somewhat unspoken agreement was that once she passed on, we would be A Family Without Cats. As in, for eternity. Sounds like a sad eternity to me, but being a submissive wife (well, in theory), I was willing to agree knowing that, well, he was allergic after all.
Now, let the record show that he has multiple allergies and needs to take allergy meds regardless of cat or no cat.
And that same record can show how patient his precious wife has been with his allergy induced snoring.
And if there is any room left on that record, it can also show that Little Queen of Kitties slept on my side of the bed and not his so that totally counts as not in his sleeping space like the allergist recommended, right?
Anyway, so, Alan Dear has been nagging suggesting that our lives would be Vastly Improved if we only had a king size bed. A California King, that is. Now, after 12 years of marriage, I am willing to confess that I am more interested in my own space than soap opera-esque snuggling all night long. However, since we live in a Brady Bunch era home, we do not actually have one of those super-size master bedroom suites that they put in new homes these days. Our master bedroom is just regular size. And along with our dresser, chest of drawers (which, sidenote, oh if I had a nickle for all the times I have seen it listed as a "chester drawers" on Craiglist), cedar chest, arm chair (furniture much?), and the odd laundry basket, I just thought a king size bed - even a California King which is evidently longer, but narrower than a regular king - would engulf our bedroom.
But then he threw out the caveat.
Of his own volition without any coercing from the wife.
That I could get a kitty if he could get a California King size bed for our room.
Oh my. Such folly of those famous last words. There was verbal agreement and shaking of hands.
So, in a very few weeks, this little ladybug below, Charlotte, will be coming home with us!

And the California King? Well, it's not quite picked out yet. What can I say? Can I help it if I can make decisions more quickly than others in this household?
She has such beautiful eyes!
