My dad and Matthew are huge train buffs. They could both look at and talk trains all day long if they were allowed. Several times a year we take a visit to the Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. Today we went to ride with the Easter Bunny and take in the train sights.

Here, Matthew and the Easter Bunny were shaking hands. Matthew later shared secretly that this was just the Easter Bunny's helper. He had spotted an arm through the Bunny's sleeve and it was (dramatic pause)...HUMAN!

At the roundhouse, we watched a diesel engine pull a steam engine and coal car onto the turntable so that the steam engine could be brought into one of the roundhouse bays. I don't ever remember seeing this on one of our T.M. trips. It's definitely much grander than our Thomas the Tank Engine version!

Inside the roundhouse are all kinds of train cars. Matthew loves traipsing through them. This is my boy on the back of the caboose.

Matthew and Gampy (pronounced "Gamp-hee") deep in conversation about the history and physics of trains (you think I'm kidding, don't you?). I just follow along to take pictures.

Engineer Casey ready to go!

Poor Mike. He DESPERATELY wanted to go with us, but he woke up early this morning sick. Even right after we had cleaned him up, he was crying and trying to convince me that he was feeling better already and can't he go see the trains?? Please!?! Note the stuffed dog clutched in his hand...this is favorite stuffed animal appropriately named, "Kitty."

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
