Grayson Highlands Camping Trip - Take 2

Hiking along the Stamper's Branch Trail. Wilburn Creek is behind the boys.
Tired little boys from hiking several miles. Taking a rest alongside the quiet road.
Matt was in charge of the trail map (in his hand).
I think Michael was just tired, although he told me he was pretending to be dead (???).
We hiked with Alan's brother David, his wife Shannon (hi Shannon!), and their son Austin up to Massey's Gap. The boys love this hike. It was especially fun with their cousin.
Butterfly and thistle along the trail.
It was a gorgeous day. All blue skies and puffy clouds and warm, but comfortable weather.
Matthew taking a snack break once we climbed to the top of the mountain.

Michael "driving his dino car". Whatever. We just play along.
And, oh, there was a bluegrass music concert Sunday night with Wayne Henderson and crew. The boys love to dance and have absolutely no inhibitions.
It is very like Elaine on Seinfeld.

Matthew especially is my dancer. He gets his moves from his daddy!
He kept wanting me to take pictures of him.
I don't mind documenting this for future embarrassment.

This was the group playing in the camp amphitheater. The guitarist on the left is a 13-year-old boy from Lexington, NC and the "fiddler" is his nine-year-old sister. They were absolutely amazing musicians. Precious and precocious and humble. Watching them really made the evening for me and Al. And that's the campground "superintendent" flat-foot dancing in the background. A man of many hidden talents!
While Alan and I watched a little further up, the boys were dancing at the picnic tables behind us. And evidently making eyes at younger women. Michael was really taken with this adorable three-year-old. I caught them almost nose to nose a few minutes earlier.
Clearly, he's gonna be trouble in a few years.

That was our last hurrah for summer. Time for fall to begin!

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
