First of all, I don't plan to make every post about dieting, but WHEN YOU'VE LOST TEN POUNDS, it's just where your thoughts are. I'm sorry. Maybe you didn't catch that. T.E.N. P.O.U.N.D.S. TEN POUNDS! Woo Hoo! 'k. Done now. Except to say that I'm no longer the pudgy girl who stares at faux religious icons in the lazy river!!
I had the most delicious Girl Date this week with my BFF Andrea. You know, I'm just going to say, it was extremely selfish of her (hi Andrea!) to move to Raleigh several years ago. Do you know how far away Raleigh is (well, it feels far, ok?) and how that distance cramps our girl time? Thankfully, she married up last fall to a guy who feels like they need to move back here. Yet another reason to adore Isaac (hi Isaac!). Andrea suggested meeting at my favorite restaurant, and I swear, we were two of maybe five patrons there. My sweet Andrea. I just love her more and more all the time. Which leads to my obvious forgiveness for her moving away. Also the fact that she encouraged me to eat the whole [largeish] piece of carrot cake with thick cream cheese icing and macadamia nuts instead of taking half of it home to the hubbers.

And then last night I had one of the nicest dates ever with my sweet hubbers. Earlier this week, I was lamenting [read: whining] the fact that he and I rarely, rarely date. To be honest, after the busy craziness of the weeks we have, I think we just really like being at home with our kids. And we do tend to watch a lot of TV/hulu.com in bed on the weekends, so that totally counts as a date, right? Anyway, his sweet mama (hi Janice!) kept the kids for us, and we tried a new restaurant that I had just heard about earlier in the day (O'Sos for you locals - it's kind of a dumb name, but I didn't mention that to the waitress). Soooo nice to be just the two of us and talk about life (whew! and politics! hubbers got a little intense there for a minute!). The food was great. We didn't stay out late (sigh. we're getting old), and the plan was to come home and work on my new friend IPOD. Unfortunately, something from the rich dinner I ate (maybe some of the portabello mushroom with cream sauce, crab cake, and cheese on top??) did not sit well with me. Unfortunately, after getting kinda sick a couple of times [insert sympathy], I fell asleep at 8:30 pm on top of the covers with my cat curled up beside me. Not really the romantic ending I had envisioned.
Two plus sides to this, though:
- I got 11 hours of sleep last night. Evidently I was a little tired. ELEVEN hours of sleep, y'all. Just slightly more than the amount of weight that I have lost in the past two weeks. Because I've lost TEN POUNDS!
- In the words of Jen Lancaster [totally irreverant author - miles away from "The Shack"! - but so, so, so funny] from her book "A Very Pretty Fat": "My most recent drop [in weight] came from when I got food poisoning and I'm still counting it as a win." That cracked me up when I read it this morning. So appropriate. Thanks to Lori (hi Lori!) for turning me on to Jen.
Anyway, good week.

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
