I mean, I do realize that you all are about as over the whole ant and mouse thing as I am, yes? Well, maybe slightly less so as YOUR CEILING IS NOT CRASHING IN AS A RESULT, but I will spare you those details for the moment so we can delve into something a little more pleasant: impromptu antique/vintage-ing!
Yesterday my family and I parted ways for the weekend: the boys to their annual camping trip with just Daddy and Nana and me to visit one of my college besties. She and I lost touch for a long time, but thanks to the wonders of Facebook, we have been back in touch and visiting back and forth (we live four+ hours apart) for the past several years. Her family is AWESOME and her home beautiful and our time together is always so relaxing. I feel like I am at a retreat. A retreat in which I laugh my head off and adore her children and become mesmorized with George's dancing and eat like crazy the whole time and talk about design and photography and Ruby.
Which is EXACTLY what I needed after this week.
And did I mention that there were a few new and improved (LIVE) ants in the kitchen yesterday before I left? No? Must have blocked it out of my memory.
Anyway, needed to stop and do a little tinkleberry on the way up here, and frankly, other than the scrubby bushes on the side of the road (no thank you, it's the boys that are camping), there weren't a whole lot of places to stop. But then I stumbled upon the Circle A Antiques Mall.
Antiques AND a potty? Yes, please!
So while the little old ladies who ran the shop knitted at the front and after I, you know, took care of other needs, I took a little walksie around and found some of these treasures:
Love the colors. Love the shape. Love the bird.
It's a mustache mug! There was a little "barrier" across the rim to keep your (my?) mustache dry. I thought this was a mug with FDR on it at first.
Everyone needs a retro snack set! That's green!
With a matching pitcher!
Does it come with Cheez Doodles?
A row of pitchers? Yes ma'am! Love everyone of these, but Will (Andrea's son) and I decided that we like the green one the best.
Amazing furniture like this galore.
These dishes were one of my very favorite finds. LOOK AT THAT COFFEE POT! The colors are awesome. Moms used to have a set that had similar shaped teacups. Perhaps that's part of the charm.
Love, LOVE face jugs. Is it bad to say that this makes me think of my husband? ONLY because he really loves face jugs, too.
Oh my word, she has a fabulous figure. And I want her to come home with me. Could have totally strapped her in a carseat in the backseat of the minivan and toted her home.
Oh my word. Isn't she beautiful?
I lllooovvvveee this portrait.
And it totally would not be the style of anything in my house.
And I don't know her.
So is that weird to bring her home with me?
One of the items above (along with oh, a few other items, I'm afraid) did come home with me. Guess which one!
Alrighty, I'm jealous. #1) you're on a girl trip; I so want to be on a girl trip. #2) Antiquing!!! #3) you're on vacay AND blogging about it!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you know how long it takes me to post with photos? Too long. I counted 9 photos there. I must have a slow computer or I'm doing something wrong. Maybe both! Ha!
Have fun!
Oh, and I'm guessing the tea cup 'n saucer and the green snack set with the matching pitcher. I might of said the piece of furniture you have posted if I knew you drove a minivan but I don't, say didn't go with that. But I know you like to refurb furniture........
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Laura! Ding, ding, ding! It's one of those! :) And I do (sadly) drive a minivan. We totally should go to that antiques mall over at Marketplace together!
