Adventures of Charlie

You know, it's kind of hard to be a Crazy Cat Lady when your precious Su Su Prettiness Queen of the Kitties dies.  Oh my, did I love my kitty girl.  I tell Alan that I loved her before I loved him.  I grew up with cats and dogs, but she was the first pet that I had that was really mine.  I had her from her kittenhood, and she was with me through all the major life changes of the past few years.  She had kind of a sudden, unexpected death.  I was actually pretty heartbroken.

I love kitties - and for the record, obviously, doggies, too - but wasn't really ready to get another one.  And truly, if you've read this post, then you know that having another kitty wasn't part of the marital agreement.  But silly husband that I have thought I wouldn't give in to a king-size bed in exchange for a wee kitty.

I can't help but make comparisons between him and my sweet Su.  And so far?  They are total opposites.  This is the most laid back cat I have ever seen. And yet, completely crazy.  He loves to chase the dog.  He has no fear.

He follows me around like a dog and is super interested in everything I'm doing. Doing the laundry?  Why yes, I'll help. Going potty?  Why yes, I'll take a drink.  Doing paperwork?  Why yes, I'll lie right on top and take a nap.  Don't mind if I do, he says.
Perhaps the most interesting/disturbing aspect of our new pet ownership is how he has really taken to our dear Lucy Dog.  Literally taken to her.  He's convinced she's his mother and ready to provide for all of his needs.  Demanding little thing, isn't he?  Thankfully, with a little age, a little neutering, and a little water bottle spraying, he seems to have given this habit up.

This little kitten is a nut.  Which means he fits in just fine with our family.

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
