My Bestie

Six years ago this month, my best friend and I were filmed for a national TV show.
It was "Trading Spaces."
Not "C.O.P.S" like you were thinking.
I'm saving that one for my current streak of B&E.

Andrea and I have been such good friends for such a long, long time, and have seen each other through thick and thin.  You can read about Andrea here and and here and here and here and here and here.  The bad news of our relationship is that sometimes two hours of distance can be a whole lot.  The good news is that we can always pick right back up where we left off with lots of laughs, heartfelt talks, honest discussions, shared interests, and loving support.

All together now: "Awwwwwww..."
Because, really?  We are just that sickenly sweet.

So, Andrea lives in Raleigh and I live in Winston-Salem, and usually one of us drives to the other's town so we can see each other, but truth be told, the older we get, the busier our lives get.  And that, my friends, is the sorriest little excuse for why she and I don't see each other more often.  UNTIL, she had the buh-rilliant idea that we meet in the middle for brunch.  Food?  Talk?  A little shoppie?  Time with my girl?  Driving only an hour?  SIGN ME UP!
So, we met at Mimi's Cafe for what might very well be The World's Most Perfect Brunch.  My mouth thought it had died and gone to heaven, and my ever-expanding-waistline was in full support. Two enthusiastic thumbs up (bonus points if you can name the movie that line came from) for Mimi's Cafe! We spent two great hours catching up on each other's lives, including her VERY EXCITING NEWS.  It's entirely possible that our server was ready to boot us out the door sooner, but tough patootie. Don't you love how you totally know your server is done with you when she stops refilling your coffee?
Mimi's was in a lovely, newish shopping center with lots of my favorite stores and one I have been dying to go to thanks to mentions from blogland: Hobby Lobby. Now, while my sister has been getting her craft on lately, I am figuring out that a Crafty Girl I am not.  A DIY-er?  Yes. A Martha Stewart, no.  Which is just fine with me. BUT, I really needed to go see what all the Hobs Lobs love was about.

(thank you, O Inspiration of Young House Love and Sanity and Chaos -
which, sidenote: Kirsty has an AWESOME giveaway going on over at her blog right now -
not to mention her blog just rocks regardless -
so go QUICK and enter!!!)

And while a lot of it was basic AC Moore, I did find several things I really liked: tiny iron turtle, vintage-y wire basket, and these great letter hooks that I plan to use for towels in the boys' bathroom since their double towel rack keeps falling down and I'm tired of seeing their towels in a wet pile on the floor only that's bound to happen anyway because they ARE boys after all.

But at least my wall will look cute.

And I did get a "y", since our last name, isn't, after all, "Case," but Alan had taken it to Home Depot with him (you know, to get the right size screws) when I took this picture.
So, to get back to the whole "Trading Spaces" thing (and that probably does deserve it's own post one of these days), our experience is a memory that feels a million years old and just like yesterday all at the same time.

I think it's time for the two of us to find our next reality show.  Suggestions now being accepted. Ones that involve brunch will be given priority.

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
