So, my sister is a bad influence on me. But you know, like, in a really fun way.
She has some crazy good times finding abandoned buildings - houses and outbuildings and (get this!) schools and hospitals - and explores them and finds treasures to take home and savor in a non-eating-kind-of-way. And she always takes her camera with her to document her treasure hunting experiences.
Some might call this "Breaking and Entering". Or maybe "Looting." But me? I just call it Exciting Adventure because this is the equation that pops into my head:
(history+photography+treasures) - arrests =
Exciting Adventure
See how that works?
Sooo, after the fam was all over to our house for Thanksgiving Day, her family turned the opposite way out of our neighborhood from the way that my family usually turns. And that's not really all that remarkable except for the fact that they happened into a magical land called Several Old Houses and Outbuildings.
And being the kind of sister she is, she called me and was all, "I found this cool old house on the road your neighborhood is on and it totally looks abandoned and there aren't really any other houses around and I'm dying to get into it." And then she was all, "You've got to find it! You've got to go there with me!" And when I expressed some skepticism about, you know, the ARREST factor of the situation, she was all, "If you loved me, you'd do it."
Oh glory, the guilt trips we place on our family members.
So, while Michael was off on a Nana Adventure this afternoon, Matthew and I had a library and chai adventure of our own and then set off to find this house she had discovered on Thanksgiving Day. And we found the cabin-esque house pictured above.

| Sidenote: Please ignore how wonky Matthew looks in this picture |
We parked Bullet (the Silver Bullet Minivan - I know...it's kind of sad to name your minivan) and tiptoed (because what? the B&E Police are hiding behind a tree??) over to the house. And let me just tell you...there was not one thing inside there. Except dirt. Two rooms on the ground floor and a small stairway leading to a big open attic above. So cool to think about the life that's happened in this little house.
So, I took a picture of this house and texted it to my sister and get this - it's totally NOT the house she was talking about. And while I'm tappity tap tapping away (I'm like the coolest texter evah!), Matthew is digging around, and he finds this old castor oil bottle in between the walls. A great find indeed for his bottle collection.
So, back into Ole Bullet we hop, and back on the road. And keep on a-driving and a-looking. And talking to Sissy to try find the Miracle Abandoned House...and turns out this house was the one she saw before:
which does truly look like it might have lots of interesting treasures inside... She's made me swear not to go back without her. I don't - shock - tend to be the patient type, but I suppose that's what I've got to muster up for blood relatives.
We're making tentative plans to go back and explore soon. In the meantime, I'm compiling a master list of my Available Friends Who Might Bail Me Out of Jail.
Because, you know. If you love me, you'll do it.

I would be a total bad influence...in the first pic I would be taking off the wood boards from the building...yep yep! I like your sister already
