Bowl-o-rama!

This afternoon, Matthew had a birthday party to celebrate his 6th birthday (tomorrow). He chose to have a "Construction Bowling Party." Of course, the construction part makes sense - he has been vehicle crazy since coming out of the womb - but the bowling part was a bit random...he hasn't been bowling since he was two. I love the above picture. A big old pile of shoes. I wish you could see all those cute little feet in their funky bowling shoes.
Here they are giving it a try. I think only one other kid besides Matthew had ever bowled before. The bowling alley set up the bumper guards and provided this metal ramp thing so the kids only had to heft the ball up and give it a good push. Oh, if only they let adults do that, too. I think they all had a really good time.
Matthew would shove the ball and watch a bit, and then dance back to the "sidelines."
Michael pushed the ball and then dusted the place. What? You mean you're supposed to watch what happens? There are pins down there? And I'm supposed to try to knock them down?
As you can see, Matthew inherited his mother's bowling skills. Fortunately, he's at the age where he doesn't really have the concept of keeping score. How sad would that be to figure out that you lost bigtime at your own birthday party?
We came back to the house for cupcakes, ice cream, pretzels and presents. Today was gorgeous, so it was great to let the kids run around outside and blow off some more steam.
Matthew and Michael are going to sleep so, so well tonight.
And so will I.

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
