Isn't that little lady the cutest thing you've ever seen? Don't you just want to snuggle her up in one hand with a fist full of peanuts for her in the other? Don't you want to admire how her full, bushy tail curls around her back to shade her head? Don't you wish you had her frolicking around the lawn at your home?-OR-
Does looking at her remind you of how she just moved into the increasing, fist-sized hole in your wooden siding at the third floor level and how she decided that might make a good home for the winter? And how if that hole doesn't meet her exact specifications that there is another increasing, fist-sized hole three floors up on the other side of the house? And how you paid big bucks last year to have multiple holes repaired? And how that brat of a squirrel residing in your home last year ate through the drywall such that if you lightly poke your dining room wallpaper, you'll go right through it?
So, officer, when you come to arrest my husband for using the shotgun to "vacate" the little rat, please keep in mind that WE CAN'T PAY TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM SOLVED ANY OTHER WAY RIGHT NOW.
I have suicidal squirrels at work!! There is an arbor right outside my office window and the poor little thing (ha-ha) missed jumping onto the roof and smashed into my window (giving me quite a start)not once but three times! And you can forget having the pretty flowers in the hanging baskets and planters outside on the patio because the cute little things enjoy those blossoms so much!! I have a picture of one of those cuties sitting on the arbor with a petunia blossom sticking out of its mouth. Aren't they just so darn cute - oh yeah - they are now residing in the attic again after repeated attempts to "block" the hole they were using. Foam insulation didn't work, copper flashing didn't work, piece of wood didn't work, screening didn't work - maybe the shotgun will???

Ummmm, yes. The shotgun will work.
ReplyDeleteAbout 2 years ago, when I lived in Cleveland, my deck and garage were invaded by racoons. I had a guy (I think he was called the Critter Gitter) come out and set traps ($150). When he caught one, it was $80 to get it "disposed of"! I finally gave up after I caught 8! If I had to do it over again, I would buy a bb gun and some night vision goggles...... I could send Mollie to you. He is super good at catching chipmunks! :-) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYou understand my critter issues. Unfortunately, the squirrel mentioned in the post is no longer with us.
ReplyDeleteAbout Mollie. Please do send him. I am currently accepting all pet-type animals!
