Reasons I Love IKEA

Well, after a Facebook friend steered me to the IKEA website tonight to try to tempt their "Ask Anna" Help Feature to the unabashed rudeness she experienced (yes, a slow night in our household), I got a bit carried away with taking a virtual shopping trip through the IKEA online catalogue. Not like I haven't been to the store before. But at least it eased the irritability I was experiencing earlier that prompted me to threaten my husband with peeing on his side of the bed. A threat that occurred during the continued You Can Get Another Cat When I Can Get A King-Sized Memory Foam Mattress Battle of 2011.

For your viewing pleasure, a few items that I wouldn't mind owning:
The Vejmon Side Table...perfect for beside the rocking settee (help! spelling please!) in the living room.

The Varme teapot...so sleek, so white, so modern, so cheap!

The Skruvsta swivel chair. It just screams "Mork & Mindy" to me. Only in a cute, bird-covered way. I am only accepting this chair in this pattern.

The Narhet white wine glass. Now having grown up a Good Southern Baptist Girl, I am not a big wine drinker, although I have been known to imbibe just a glass or so on occasion. White wine only (unless it's a yummy dessert wine). But these glasses - those stems! [which, Side Note: the exact phrase Alan exclaimed about me on our first date!] - make me want to drink all kinds of wine. Which given my penchant for addictions (re: candy corn and all things from the Rescue Mission) wouldn't be good. But the glasses are a worthy purchase, no?

The Limmaren 4-piece bathroom set. Glass things always look so crisp and clean, don't they? And sitting on my bathroom counter, wouldn't they totally distract you from how much I need to clean my toilet? No?

The Jonsbo Egby table Lamp. Now this, I am really ga-ga for, and am seriously considering picking up a couple for our living room on my next IKEA trip. This particular one is in the "green-beige" realm, but they also have a pink/beige variety (seriously? who wants that?). Unfortunately, I'm thinking this one might be a bit short for my needs, so being the flexible girl that I am, I just might be willing to compromise with this one. Good heavens! There is even a dimmer function!

the Expedit shelving unit - I have been on the prowl for a while for something to replace our living room side tables (which will be relegated to Matthew's room as end tables). I would like something with a little more storage, a little longer, a little narrower, etc. Not picky at all, am I? While this shelving unit is a little open perhaps I could throw four or so of this basket:

the Nasum basket...

or perhaps the Knipsa basket to hide library books and eight years of photographs that have never made it into albums and miles of boxed embroidery floss from my cross-stitch extravaganzas of yesteryear???

The Koldby cowhide rug. My sweet friend Andrea (I abound in those) just purchased an awesome (faux, yes?) zebra rug for her home, but I'm feeling partial to this cow variety. Reminds me of the Sunday afternoon we came home from visiting with the folks to find 40 or so cows stampeding through our backyard. Not one bit of exaggeration there, folks. Michael was terrified of the cow presents he would find in our backyard for weeks. It's the life I live.

The figgjo mirror. It's kind of sputnik-esque, isn't it? And I like the variation on the sunburst-style mirror that is everywhere these days. In addition to this poster. Both are great the first five times you see them, and then it's just one more thing that everyone else has.
Thankfully, IKEA is not a massed-produced kind of company, huh? Sarcasm duly noted.
Anyway, what else is a girl supposed to do on a snow day besides eat and drink and window shop? BTW, no beds were peed on in the making of this post.

  1. You do not want much do you? :)

Maybe I should do the same thing, I might get something!

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
