This IS What Snow Days Are For

OK. So those Yankees can say what they want. We Southerners aren't total dummies. Maybe we just play like we don't know what to do with an inch of snow so that we can have a day off of work. Because I certainly knew what to do with it today. Aside from sleeping in, making pancakes, drinking multiple cups of coffee, eating cheese dip (um, note how my day so far revolves around food? Sigh), watching movies and making gingerbread houses (yes, I know, a month late), walking a Lu Dog, and generally being a yucky slob, I spent my day quite productively, thank you very much. I've been itching to complete the next phase of my china cabinet project. Alas, cleaning up/recovering from Christmas and a most delightful trip with my family to visit a precious college friend limited my rehab time on this project prior to today.

[Side note, perhaps I need some rehab time due to snow day food. Let's not dig into that too deeply].

Anyway, I also spent a large portion of my day continuing China Hutch Project. That bamboo stencil on the glass was my only real hestitation in purchasing this piece and giving it the Julie Touch when I discovered it a month ago. The stencil is sooo cheezy. What were the 70s thinking anyway? But thanks to my Poppo who supplied a razor blade scraper thingie (yes, only technical terms here, after all), that stencil was toast in a few short minutes (as you can see below).

And then it was sand-y, sand-y and a good cleaning and vacuuming, and then a coat of primer all over the hutch. No more faded/tacky yellow paint!

And thankfully, the educational forces at work in our county have deemed another day of paintiness for my home tomorrow as school has been cancelled again. After a round of french toast, more coffee, some ice cream here and there, and yes, some quality time with my children, it's back to the land of chemical solvents for me!

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
