I Am Not The Guest You Want In Your Home

I've been looking forward to my girl's weekend away for months. It was supposed to be with two good college friends at the one college friend's apartment in Charlotte.

The one friend (not the apartment owner) bailed on us last Wednesday. Too swamped with work (she's a photographer) to be able to make it. Surely she was making that excuse up. Too busy with work - with taking pictures - at CHRISTMAS TIME - to come hang out with me? For reals? I think she just wanted to hang around home to catch the 4-6 inches of snow that's supposed to be coming her way this weekend. Hey - why didn't we decide to go to her home instead??

But me? No, no, I'm the faithful friend. I'm the reliable friend that FORTUNATELY DOES NOT BAIL ON PLANS MADE MONTHS IN ADVANCE. No sirree! I bippity bopped on down to Charlotte last night (Side note: my family is excellent on supporting me in my little girl weekend adventures) and spent some delightful time with Ms. Melissa. She fixed the most, most yummy dinner for me, and it was by far the most healthy and delicious food that I have eaten in quite some time. So nice not to be responsible for dinner. I told her I could have licked the bowls. Thank goodness I showed some restraint. I was, by the way, raised occasionally in a barn.

After dinner we went to Caribou to listen to a friend of hers sing/play. It was really nice and relaxing. Lots of families there tripping about and Melissa and I just being chatty.

Until things started getting rumbly. In my tummy. And then I needed us to go home. And then I got sick. Repeatedly. Nice. Sweet Melissa made a Pepto run for me and then tucked me into my bed. Where I slept and slept and slept.

Perhaps I should have bailed, too, eh?

So, I'm feeling better today, but am thinking I better take it a smidge easier than I did last night. Although Melissa just mentioned something about homemade cinnamon rolls, so maybe I might need to lick the pan...
