Tap, tap, tap [fingertips on table]. Ho hum. What a boring time of year. Nothing much happening this month. Heaving sigh. Status quo, status quo, status quo.
Sarcasm becomes me, yes?
Julie's Lessons Learned For the Month of December:
1. Stock up on antibiotics on the black market as two sinus infections, pink-eye, and a puncture wound later (all in one week, btw), our family is a pharaceutical rep's dream.
2. You know those friends who love to tell you how they completed all of their Christmas shopping in July? Kick them. Hard. In the shins. And then give them your list to take care of for next year.
3. Homemade Christmas cookies are wonderful. Sneak into your mother's kitchen and load up a Rubbermaid box to take home.
4. Bringing seasonal cheer to your home with leftover icing flung on the walls from making gingerbread houses does not count as decorating for the holidays.
5. No matter how you are enticed by the extra money, DO NOT agree to help out your company with a complete caseload of speech-language evaluations to conduct and write-up within the first three weeks of December.
6. Getting a precious little dog for Christmas: GOOD. Getting a precious little dog who refuses to go potty outside (in four days of dog ownership) and will only do her business in her crate and/or your living room: BAD. Getting a precious little dog who looks soulfully in your eyes and snuggles against you and makes funny doggie snores: WORTH IT ALL.
7. Do not think about becoming a photographer. Do not agree to take all of the Santa pictures for the 60+ kids at your son's preschool. Do not attempt to edit every single picture and add a caption to each. DO make nice with the Sam's Photography Wonder Chick who puts in a rush order for you.
8. Christmas cards: Make a picture card? Use a pre-made card? What to put in the letter? Who to send it to? Christmas stamps? - OR - bag it all and just let out a little crazy on your blog.
9. Candles and little boys with Tinker Toy sticks in their hands do not mix well. Or, rather, they mix too well.
10. It's all about Jesus. It's all about Jesus. It's all about Jesus.
Sending you huge hugs. Thanks for the advice. I need to take some of it myself! : )
