Candy Mongers

A few weeks ago, we went to the Lewisville Christmas Parade. It's a really good, small-town parade that lasts about an hour and a half. I don't remember this from growing up, but evidently parade etiquette has evolved such that the paradERs (those IN the parade) have to hurl candy at the paradEES (us watching). It was something of a cloudy, drizzling day, so my hubbers brought a large umbrella along with our folding chairs. As the rain stopped, Clever Hubbers was quite the hit using his umbrella in a new and creative way: tipped outward so the Candy Slingers/paradERs could aim for the concave pit of the umbrella. Being the gluttons for attention that we are, we again got our picture taken for a bi-monthly issue of the local paper: the Lewisville Citizen. No more requests for autographs, please. We're simply overwhelmed at this point. Link to our picture to follow.

Alan's Amazing Umbrella Tricks did not deter our two tots, though, from running out into the street to grab all the extra candy that did not make it into the umbrella. The result being a huge bowl of candy sitting on our kitchen counter. Huge.

So. I was cleaning the other day - vacuuming - and I kept noticing all this crud/stuff under the center leg area of the dining room table. I moved the table to see what that was all about. Are we really such dirty, messy people? Don't answer that. As it turns out, there was a whole handful of candy wrappers under there. I have my suspicions that at least one (suspecting Matthew) but maybe two little Casey boys have been sneaking candy before their parents get up in the mornings, sitting under the table to scarf it, and hiding the wrappers under the table.

The little stinkers. No wonder they seem so extremely energetic in the morning.

We can all be sweet and kind, yes? I am so thankful when my Wonder Readers share their positive thoughts with me!
