Snow Day

Oh! They had fun! Matthew woke up about 5:50 am and came downstairs so excited about the snow. He couldn't wait to go outside and play. I planned to go to work, but after ten minutes spent trying to get out of our neighborhood, Alan called my cell phone and said that he had been called from his new job (WHOOPS - forgot to tell you all - Alan got a new job! You'd think I would have posted about that already) and told they were closing today for snow. So, I just turned the old van around and decided to stay home, too. Progress reports will just have to wait for another day.
Great depths of snow there, eh? Our boys have never seen a real snowfall beyond an inch, but they are more than satisfied with what we got. Thank goodness Michael has that shovel to dig us out. Matthew was talking about how we could climb out of the windows to get out of the house. Ummm. No.
They were still excited to go down to the creek and check out the scene. The ice over the creek had melted, but digging around (really in just the sand...there's not that much snow) was equally fun.
Look at My Snow Man! See that grin? That's the grin of the employed!
We are officially the World's Cutest Snow Couple. Because I said so.
Look at his little pink cheeks!
Good times! Now they are busily creating with play-dough. That and hot chocolate are snow day staples. Speaking of staples, I did not - for the record - need to make the Southern Snow Run for bread, eggs, and milk (or, as my friend Kelly and I decided years ago - chips, ice cream, and soda) like the rest of the town. Why do they do that? To make mountains of french toast for the "snow bound"? We, on the other hand, are well-stocked.
